Silk Road Certification at PLASTEX 2026 in Brno

Bring Your Packaging and Test Its Recyclability

From 6 to 9 October 2026, we will meet you at PLASTEX – the International Trade Fair of Plastics and Composites in Brno, Czech Republic.

Silk Road Certification will be exhibiting at this major event, which brings together companies, experts and professionals from across the plastics value chain every two years. For us, PLASTEX is an opportunity to meet businesses working with plastics, recycled materials, plastic packaging and recycling technologies and to talk about some of the issues that are becoming increasingly important for the industry: recycling, recyclability, recycled plastics, traceability and certification.

PLASTEX is a key event for the plastics industry

PLASTEX is an international trade fair dedicated to the plastics and composites industry. The event is held every two years at the Brno Exhibition Centre.

The fair covers a wide range of technologies, products and solutions for the plastics sector, including:

  • machinery and equipment for plastics processing,
  • production and processing technologies,
  • polymers and additives,
  • composites,
  • recycling technologies,
  • solutions supporting the circular economy.

The automotive, electrical engineering and packaging industries are among the key sectors represented at the fair.

PLASTEX brings together different parts of the plastics value chain in one place, creating an ideal setting for discussions about the practical challenges facing the industry, including recycling and certification. For Silk Road Certification, these topics are at the heart of what we do. We therefore look forward to discussing the questions that companies face when working with recycled plastics, packaging and recycling technologies.

Recycling is about more than processing technology

The development of plastics recycling requires a broader perspective than the recycling process itself. Increasingly, companies also need to consider material quality, origin, traceability and the ability to demonstrate compliance with specific requirements. These issues are relevant both to recyclers and to manufacturers and converters using recycled plastics.

Companies are asking questions such as:

  • Is a particular packaging design suitable for recycling?
  • How do individual packaging components affect recyclability?
  • Can recycled material be properly documented and traced?
  • How can traceability be maintained throughout the supply chain?
  • What requirements need to be met to obtain a specific certification?
  • Which certification scope is relevant to a particular company or process?

These are exactly the kinds of questions we want to discuss at PLASTEX.

Test the recyclability of your packaging

As part of our presence at PLASTEX, we have prepared a little recyclability challenge for visitors to our stand. You can start by checking your plastic packaging using the free RecyClass Online Tool.

RecyClass Online Tool

The tool allows users to assess selected characteristics of plastic packaging and explore their potential impact on recyclability. Once you have the result, bring it to our stand. Or, even better, bring the packaging itself. Together, we will examine your packaging, interpret the result, and discuss how different components may affect its recyclability.

Fair warning: the result might surprise you!

Plastic packaging is not automatically recyclable simply because it is made from plastic. Individual components can influence how the packaging performs in the recycling process. Looking at the packaging as a complete system is therefore essential. Our challenge goes beyond obtaining a result from an online tool. Instead, we want to use the assessment as a starting point for a practical discussion about the packaging and its recyclability.

RecyClass and certification

Recyclability is one of the areas where companies increasingly need not only technical knowledge, but also the ability to demonstrate specific characteristics or requirements through an appropriate certification process. Silk Road Certification is an

accredited certification body working in the field of plastics recycling and the circular economy.

Within the RecyClass framework, we provide certification for:

We also provide certification according to our own EN 15343 programme, covering the traceability and recycled content of plastics products.

In areas outside the scope of our accreditation, we additionally provide assessments in the following fields:

During PLASTEX, we will be happy to discuss which certification scope may be relevant to a particular company, process or supply chain.

Meet us in Brno

PLASTEX is not only an opportunity for us to present our services. It is, above all, a chance to meet companies working with plastics, recycled materials, packaging and recycling technologies. Are you working in the plastics industry and interested in recycling, recyclability, traceability, RecyClass or certification? Come and talk to us.

Where to find us?

Trader or broker? The invisible links in the recyclate supply chain

Trader, broker, warehouse and logistics intermediary: every additional link in the chain can affect the traceability of certified recycled material. We examine how a recyclate trader differs from a recyclate broker, what responsibilities these entities have under ISCC PLUS and RecyClass, and what happens to the recyclate declaration as the material changes hands.

Certified recyclate vs recyclate counted towards the SUP target – what does Commission Decision 2026/1425 change?

European Commission Implementing Decision No 2026/1425 sets out how to calculate, verify and report on the 25 per cent recycled content target for single-use PET beverage bottles under the SUP (Single-Use Plastics) Directive. That is all. It does not regulate the status of the raw material, nor does it restrict its import or use. Point 20 of the explanatory memorandum states explicitly that the import of recycled material for bottle production remains possible and does not refer to any certification scheme. Nor does it concern the PPWR targets for 2030. The methodology under Article 7 of the PPWR will be adopted separately (Article 7(8)), whilst point 32 of the explanatory memorandum merely announces that harmonisation will be ‘considered’.

Certification of recycled material in food-contact packaging

Certyfikacja recyklatu w opakowaniach food-contact - opakowania przeznaczone do kontaktu z żywnością w świetle 2022/1616 i PPWR. Food-contact to w certyfikacji recyklatu przysłowiowy „ Święty Graal”.
